Movie and a Message for Teens

Compassion Action Foundation and Muslim Teens Connect kicked off a special program series for teenagers: Movie and a Message. The series gives teens an opportunity to watch films and have brief discussions on the messages. After watching the critically-acclaimed Hidden Figures film, which is based on the true story of three brilliant African-American women’s historical achievements at NASA, teens shared their views on the film and how it relates to the present. Our next movie night is April 20th at 4pm. We will watch The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith. Food and snacks will be provided! All teens welcome. RSVP is a must (862-373-1565).

The Compassion Action Foundation at the U S Capital for African American History month. We visited the newly opened National African American History and Culture Museum. Our journey began with the motherland of Africa exhibit and took us to the many exhibits of African Americans, heroes of today. It was a wonderful opportunity to see and appreciate the many stories that makeup the beautiful history and culture of a great people.

After a day of touring the museum we joined the Turkish community for dinner and conversation. African American community sisters shared history and personal stories of African Americans with Turkish sisters. It was an awesome bridging and bonding through sharing. The next morning conversation over breakfast were more shared experiences and plans for next steps.
