A few days before the United States of America’s Independence Day, the 4th of July, we had the pleasure of learning about an American treasure. A pioneer in education. Sister Clara Evans Muhammad, wife of Honorable Elijah Muhammad. She birthed 8 children Emmanuel, Nathaniel, Ethel, Lottie Rayyah, Elijah the second, Wallace and Akbar. Wallace her seventh child became her husband’s successor to
the Nation of Islam. He evolved the nation to Al-Islam. At the time of his passing the Chicago Sun Times newspaper called him America’s Imam.
The play “Sister Clara Muhammad at Hevens Gate” is a great american story. It begans in the state of Georgia carries the
American family through the southern migration to Detroit Michigan, Chicago Illinois and the capital Washington DC. We the audience shared Sister Clara Muhammad’s experiences of pain, joy, struggle and triumph. We laughed we cryed, most importantly, we learned and gained historical knowledge of a woman who pioneered education and the many women that endured unjustified hardship with dignity, morality and strength. We are in a time where the price of most necessities are rising. This makes for the perfect time to reach out to neighbors and share. We are pleased to share CAF’s annually meat sharing program. This year we shared meat packages close to CAF home office. Our volunteers shared meat packages in south and north Jersey communities. With the help of our board members we also shared in other communities throughout the United States. This annual meat sharing is part of the Eid – Al Adha practice. Greetings to all our Catholic friends and the supporters of the newly elected Pope Leo. He is a Chicago native and the first America to be Pope. We had the pleasure of an audience with the late Pope Francis when attendeeing the Focolare
conference. We look forward to
connecting with Pope Leo in the near future.
This past weekend we attended a engaging dialogue between Muslims and Catholics. It was in honor of two late
leaders, Lady Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare and Imam Warith Deen
Mohammed Leader of the Bilalian African
American Muslims. It was a space
of
peace. The love of humanity cover the room. The New Jersey host was Masjid
Mohammed in Newark NJ, however the attendees joined virtually from serval watch parties around the world. Compassion Action Foundation looks forward to more such opportunities to build bridges.

Compassion Action Foundation is please
to take part in Muslim Heritage Month. We
join a diverse group of Muslim Americans in Edison and Fairlawn New Jersey. It was
a great opportunity to build bridges and share with fellow Americans. In
attendance both Muslim and Non Muslim
Americans. The history and art exhibits as well as the cultural food was a highlight.
The children’s reading
session
was a great plus for the little ones. A family event,
something for everyone. Government officials in attendance as Muslim Heritage
Month is recognized as a recognized in some of the United States of America
including, Illinois, New Jersey, Utah, and Washington. We look forward to more opportunities like this and invite you to keep in touch.

Three days of Building Bridges! A diverse group of people all in a spirit of gratefulness.
The first day we attended the Friday prayer, lecture. Imam Bashir shared in particular the relationship between the way trees communicate with each other to us human beings.

The concept was received well. There was lots of time for networking before and after prayer. The attendees traveled from the Midwest, Southern and Eastern states, giving Compassion Action Foundation an opportunity to make many
connections.

On Saturday night our director, Laila Muhammad received the Imam Warith Deen Mohammed Legacy Award at the banquet along with several other awardees. Among them being Grammy award winning and hall of famer Roual Bayyan, from the bad Kool and the Gang.

On Saturday night we had a strategic meeting with our volunteers who we much appreciate. They do an amazing job of making Compassion Action Foundation a success. We also give appreciation to the Turkish Cultural Center of Coral Springs Florida for it’s generosity with hosting our delegation. Sunday peaceful departure to our various locations.

For two days in the DC Virginia area, we shared space around these ideas. Two different cultures equally educated, engage and encouraged each other. We had a verity of workshops, history, communication, health, success and fitness. There was opportunity for spiritual reflection and artistic performance. The food was delicious and a new experience for some. Turkish desert and African American sweet potato casserole were at the top of the list. The sweet potatoes Virginia homegrown from the workshop presenter. She is an amazing master gardener.

Towards the end of the second day, the retreat attendees modeled their cultural fashion with glamor and pride. This is one of the goals of CAF Women’s Diversity Empowerment Retreats, that the attendees leave empowered and educated through engagement.

We are thankful to American Turkish Friendship Association ATFA for hosting and the expert planners. We look forward to more collaboration opportunities.
